Decentraland on the EOS blockchain?

What is Decentraland?

Decentraland is a virtual reality platform on the blockchain.

According to Decentraland.org "Users can create, experience, and monetize content and applications."

Anyone can buy & sell land in the Decentraland Market.

As of this time Decentraland runs on the Ethereum blockchain, and the Decentraland Market allows you to sell or purchase land right on the website.

Also if we take a look at the map we can see how there will be different areas inside Decentraland's virtual world.

Will Decentraland be able to scale on the Ethereum blockchain?

According to Blocktivity.info we see above that Ethereum's CUI is maxed out at 11.5k transactions per day.

Now if we take a look the Ethereum's average transactions (tx) per day..

We see that most days the Ethereum blockchain handles closer to a half a million transactions per day, and also has reached a max of over 1 million tx per day!

However, if we take a look at STEEM's tx per day we see that the CUI is still very low if not zero!

So if you have heard of CryptoKitties..

Then you might have heard it's very difficult to purchase one, and also has backed up the entire Ethereum blockchain!

What's the future of Decentraland?

If we are moving to a future like the film 'Ready Player One'..

Where everyone moves to a digital world, and business along with entertainment is done in a virtual world.. Then I think the focus should definitely be scaling.

Now as I mentioned in a post 2 years ago, STEEM can build a VR digital world where we can all virtually meet, and with STEEM handling 10,000 transactions per second..

Also with SMTs coming soon as well.. This might very well becoming possible!

Decentraland on the EOS blockchain?

Now as we have seen with Cryptokitties' congestion, and also the capabilities of faster blockchains, we see that Decentraland might benefit from building on a faster platform!

In a post on Cryptocoremedia.com they state “According to Dan Larimer’s EOS Consensus Presentation in May 2017.. the EOS platform, with its own blockchain will process millions of transactions in a second. This is said to be accomplished with the help of asynchronous communication and parallel processing.”

Conclusion

So if EOS looking to handle millions of transaction per second, and Decentraland is looking to build the first large scale virtual digital world on the blockchain.

I hope they consider EOS as a platform option if Ethereum has issues like they had with CryptoKitties.

But either way I am very excited about Decentraland, and look forward to seeing the Iron Age & the Silicon Age!
