Wednesday Walks, Kiama NSW Actifit Report Card: September 30 2020
We went to visit the Kiama Blowhole today. If you’ve never visited a blowhole it’s a bit like a geyser, it shoots water into the air. From sea level I’d suggest that it’s about 3-4 storeys high. The tunnel and the chamber create pressure with the tidal flow and you get this...
And you get lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ too. Being mid-week it was pretty quite but I can imagine on a busy day social distancing will be interesting.
There’s another smaller blowhole a little bit further south but I don’t think it’s as consistent as the main one.
We didn’t walk down to it, instead we stopped at the farmers market and picked up some local goodies to take home with us, artisanal cheese and some funky produce.
The market was almost on the beach!
In slowing down I noticed the growth pattern on the pine trees was pretty interesting, literal rings around the tree at spaced intervals. It seems so ‘considered’
