... roads close to the Powerlines. We call it No Man’s Land. Thick Fog, pitch black, 30 F made this an absolute nightmare. Driving this section of line out during the day light hours is a big PITA as it is. I am glad my partner was familiar with this area. Ditches and sink holes pop up outta nowhere when you are driving through the tall grass and sagebrush. Talk about testing your nerves... “Don’t go that way, it’s a 100% death rate” The crazy thing is we never found what exactly caused the outage but we think a bunch of young cows rubbing on the guy wires and poles could have shook things enough to get the wires to slap together. Or, whatever caused the outage was cleared when the contact was made. Well just another night as a Lineman.
