RIGHT || Is Subjective or Objective?

What is Right?

In a nutshell, it can be defined as something that is cultural, morally and socially acceptable in the society.

Here defined Right as that which is in accordance with what is good, proper, or just, right conduct. in conformity with fact, reason, truth, or some standard or principle.

Most times, you hear people in a heated argument saying one thing or the other is right and I come to ask myself;

Isn't Right General?
Isn't Right Objective?

Here, I am directing the question to you while I share my honest opinion;

IS RIGHT SUBJECTIVE OR OBJECTIVE?

• Right as Objective:

By this, I meant to say that something Right is generally Right, hence, what is right for Obi is Right for Ada.

• Right as Subjective:

By this, I meant to say that something Right is only Right based on the person's perception and beliefs, hence, what is right for Ada might not be Right for Obi and it's still okay.

Scenarios Where There Are Conflicting Stands

• Abortion
• Euthanasia

These are two scenarios I will like to talk on to the best of my knowledge...
NOTE: They are solely my own thoughts

This is the termination of a foetus' life before viability.

What we all know as Miscarriage is also termed Abortion medically but here, it is the spontaneous expulsion of the foetus before the viability age too.

Most Miscarriages are unplanned and unexpected as the bearer wants the child most times unlike the Abortion we normally know.

The age of viability is termed 20th week.

Seeing Abortion as not Right is supported massively by the Pro-Life group.

They believe that you do not give life hence, you do not have the authority to take any.... Drawing their backings biblically also from the 6th commandment;
"Thou shall not kill".

Regardless of whatever situation surrounding the conception, this set of people strongly disagree with the termination of the foetus' life.
For them, you have committed a grave sin once you terminate the baby.

Seeing Abortion as Right is massively supported by the Pro-Choice set of people.

They believe that the woman who is pregnant has full authority over the foetus in her.

They believe she has the authority to remove or to allow the foetus to attain viability age.

In circumstances surrounding the conception such as rape, the woman makes the decision of what she wants and whatever her decision is looks right for this set of people.

Might not be Right for you as the observer but might be Right for the victim of rape.

In cases of foetal malformation also for instance congenital heart disease, anencephaly or renal agenesis, the woman may sometimes be advised by the gynaecologist to terminate the pregnancy.

Euthanasia simply means the taking out of life in a critical patient who has minimum chance of survival.

It may seem right for the doctor as he sees it as saving the patient's from Pain and also saving the family members from paying big hospital bills.

On the other hand, it may seem very in appropriate because you are not God and as such holds no authority over someone's life.
What if the patient would have recovered from the 1% chance of survival he had and you just denied the person the opportunity to do so.

It may be Right for you but for the relatives and the patients, is it Right for them?

One thing I have come to understand in life is that our perception of Right and not Right most times change especially when we are the persons affected directly but then we get stiff with decision making when it concerns another person.

Hence I still ask;
IS RIGHT SUBJECTIVE OR OBJECTIVE?
