A Night at the Museum: Animal Crossing Chronicles [ENG/ESP]

Night floods every corner of our island, and it's time to explore. Many neighbors are sleeping and the brothers' shop has closed. We only have one thing left: to go to the museum. The museum is always open, perhaps because an owl is in charge. We walk among trees and flowers, and the museum welcomes us with its distinguished architecture in the middle of our island.

Right at the museum entrance we are greeted by Socrates, and just behind we have our goal for today: the museum's fossil room. I have contributed several times to this room with different fossils I have found around the island. I don't know if it's a good idea to enter this area of the museum at night; there are some legends told on the island about the skeleton of the great T-Rex.

The first room of the fossil area is filled with dim lights that clearly reveal the textures of each fossil. There are all kinds of fossilized creatures and plants, from marine to terrestrial. It is wonderful to think that these were real creatures that existed and walked on the face of the Earth. There is even an ancestral mosquito trapped in amber. Ammonites that look like ancient shells with their infinite spirals, trilobites that seem as if they could still walk on the seabed, prehistoric fish with hollow eyes.

In the display case, the coelacanth and the prehistoric shark are shown. It is a bit striking when we stand in front of them — what would happen if they came to life and moved? These creatures were surely great predators of ancient times, and grandparents of today's sharks and fish. I stood still for a while, simply contemplating and imagining what their movements would be like.

I went deeper into the museum, leaving behind the smaller fossils and reaching the large area where the skeletons of ancient saurians are. There I felt some shivers in the face of the gigantic shadows. Stegosaurus and Parasaurolophus, the names get tangled up for me because they are very similar. With every step, an echo was heard. Bad idea to come alone to the museum at night, especially at this hour. For an instant I thought that one of the skeletons was turning its long neck toward me, and fear seized me. I felt very small in front of these creatures; for a moment I thought I would run away. I held my breath and tried to act brave, but inside I felt that the museum was alive and the dinosaurs were only pretending to sleep.

I stopped in front of the fossil of one of the first birds; it shone under the spotlight. For an instant I imagined wings unfolding from the stone, breaking the silence of the hall and lifting me into flight. Fear gripped my chest. What if the fossil remembered how to fly?

Suddenly I heard footsteps coming from the darkness and echoing throughout the hall, slow and deliberate steps that seemed to come closer and closer. The skeletons have come to life! They're going to eat me! I have nowhere to run!

¡Me van a comer! ¡No tengo a dónde correr!

The footsteps became louder and louder, I spun around suddenly, ready to accept my fate. But it wasn't a specter: it was one of my neighbors. He looked at me angrily because I had mistaken him for a dinosaur ghost. I soon discovered that I wasn't alone; several neighbors had decided to explore the museum at night, so at least today the area would be free of ghosts.

And the night turned out better than planned. No fear remained, only knowledge and the company of my neighbors. At least for today, there are no ghosts!
