Death Cries for Peace

In was thinking about what to write today and decided to dust off some old writing and singled upon this. I thought it seemed relevant to the times. Maybe you will too.

Old bones in a forgotten grave
People are dying every day
Over the hill, smoke it rising
Young soldiers lie in a bloody, shallow bay
More will give their lives in faith
The hunger in their bellies grows
In the land of the raptors
It'll chew you up and spit you out
Shiny, metal ribbon threaded on the wall
Your daddy was the bravest of them all
In life to his country he was proud
Loved by all he ever met and to all he vowed
Old bones restless from their slumber
Turning over read the markings on the lumber
If they asked if they died in vain, how could we explain
They died for peace, and now what do we have to claim?

I take pictures, write stuff, have difficult conversations, build communities and forge an intentional path in life with the determination to make the world a better place when I leave it than when I happened upon it by the sheer, beautiful luck that is my existence.
