This is an open source web application being created or designed to cater for same files. This tool will open similar files with a single click.
File Stapler is a small handy desktop tool that helps you organize your digital life. It staples together files that you need to always open at the same time, so that when you open one, the others also open automatically. source
This would be a simple basic tool that associates files together in a single place without the need to keep renaming files. This would work with a simple basic right click menu.
This tool is an open source and it's already launched on kickstarter. It gives you the opportunity the staple and unstaple file easily. The the link above to read more.
