A poem for Lawrence - a dear dear friend
A sterile scent, a hushed, white room,
Where shadows dance and hope makes gloom.
My friend lies still, eyes closed so tight,
Lost in a world beyond our light.
The beeping hums a steady beat,
A rhythm stark, a bitter treat.
We watch and wait, our hearts a-flutter,
With whispered prayers, a silent mutter.
Remember laughter, shared and bright,
Adventures bold, in day and night?
The secrets whispered, dreams we spun,
Now hang suspended, yet undone.
We hold your hand, so cold and frail,
And tell you stories, without fail.
Of silly jokes and triumphs won,
Of sunny days, 'til setting sun.
Though you may drift, in slumber deep,
Our love surrounds you, secrets keep.
We're here, a chain, so strong and true,
A bond that nothing can undo.
We pray for strength, a miracle's grace,
To see a smile upon your face.
To hear your voice, so clear and strong,
To know you're back where you belong.
So fight, dear friend, with all your might,
And find your way back to the light.
We'll be right here, until the end,
Our love a force, to heal and mend.
