Happy Bday HIVE - Reminiscing memories!

It seems only a few days back the blockchain was attacked by Justin Sun. Those were horrible few days, honestly. The uncertainty surrounding the future of this place we called home was truly unsettling. Back then, I was only starting to feel like a part of this family - I was starting to make real life connections with people I met through the chain. And it was all about to just go poof...?

I remember we all kept telling each other on different discord servers, regardless whether the chain stays or not, we'd be there for each other. But deep down inside we knew. We knew, once the blockchain was gone, we'd all fade away over time and all that we'd have left of this beautiful place we called home would be memories.

It was sad. But when I think of those days, this sadness is not what comes to mind. What I see is how the community stood up against Justin Sun's attack as one united front! Everyone - redfish, minnows, dolphins, orcas, whales - everyone stood to fight as one, together. Whatever little stake one had, we made every last bit of power count. It was beautiful, it was magnificent how everyone set their own personal disagreements and disputes aside and united for one common goal - fight for the chain.

I remember wherever I was, every few minutes I would be checking the witness list, check the discord servers, check for posts updating us on the witness situation. And we did almost win the very improbable fight. But what can one do when the other party plays so dirty. what Justin Sun did after that was disgusting, despicable and cowardly.

So on March the 20th, we forked ourselves away from the polluted steem blockchain and created HIVE. And since then we haven't had to look back. This is probably the first instance in blockchain history where the forked chain has performed better, much much better than the original chain.

HIVE is still nowhere near perfect and there is always room for more improvement. But it is home.
