The historical, artistic, and symbolic portrayal of a nascent country becoming a global power makes the Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars—often seen as sister coins—desirable to collectors.

In 2021, the centennial of the Morgan Silver Dollar's final striking and the Peace Silver Dollar's first, the coins were brought back to the United States Mint. These were delivered right to my home by the U.S. Mint.

Morgan and Peace Dollar 2023 Two-Coin Reverse Proof Set

The 2023 edition is the first to ever use a reverse-proof finish on a Morgan or Peace Dollar, setting a dazzling, reflective subject against a frosted background.

When the Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar programs were revived in 2021, collectors took to them right away. They stand for two significant periods in the history of the country.

The Morgan Dollars symbolized the U.S.'s westward expansion and industrial progress. The Peace Dollars show a country assuming its rightful place among the world's superpowers. What a powerful and vivid picture these two coins provide of the significant junctures in the history of our country!

One Morgan dollar coin and one Peace dollar coin in gorgeous reverse proof finishes, produced by the San Francisco Mint, are included in the 2023 Morgan and Peace Dollar Two-Coin Reverse Proof Set.

It came with a Certificate of Authenticity.

I shall show you the Morgan and Peace Dollar coins separately. Afterall the 2023 edition is the first to ever use a reverse-proof finish on a Morgan or Peace Dollar.

Below is how the U.S. Mint produces proof coins. As the name suggests, reversed proof coins are done slightly differently.

Produced especially for collectors, proof coins have a polished appearance, frosted devices, and mirrored fields. Compared to their regular counterparts, these coins are seen to be more exquisite and precious due to their very small production numbers. Their distinctive packaging and flawless appearance—achieved by striking the coin with specially polished blanks—allow for easy identification. Reverse proof coins look different from proof coins, although they are made and packaged similarly.

Reverse proof coins have given proof coins an additional level of interest in recent years. Reverse proof coins have a mirrored device and a frosted field instead of a mirrored device and a frosted field. The proof in reverse has an amazing visual impact. A reverse proof's design will resemble a black and white photograph's negative rather than the clean black and white image found on ordinary proof coins. This look is caused by the carefully polished blanks that were used to strike the coin.

The 2006 Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle was the first reverse proof coin released by the United States Mint.
