George V was the monarch of the United Kingdom from 1910 till his passing in 1936. He helped guide Britain through turbulent times and WWI. In 1917, George became the first monarch of the House of Windsor, which he renamed from the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha as a result of anti-German public sentiment, 1 and to reflect British identity.
George V is remembered as a monarch who helped the crown survive the war, the revolution, and social changes.
