Cryptocurrency is becoming anti-fragile

antifragile2.jpg

I was looking for a term to describe the development of cryptocurrency in the last 12 years, and I think I found it in Wikipedia, it's AntiFragile

  • Antifragility is a property of systems in which they increase in capability to thrive as a result of stressors, shocks, volatility, noise, mistakes, faults, attacks, or failures. source

Antifragility as a characteristic of cryptocurrency.

I think Anti-fragile, the opposite of fragile, is an appropriate term for cryptocurrency for three reasons.

First, hardened: cryptocurrency is growing more hard attack, as it learns from previous attacks.

Second, utility: cryptocurrency is becoming more useful, due to people learning to do more with it and to build more with it.

Third, adoption: cryptocurrency is adopted as a technology by more people, as it becomes capable of doing more things, or solving more problems.

  • I believe there is an interplay between these things, as one increases, it causes the other to increase also and creates a feedback loop of continue hardening, utility and adoption.*

Evolve or Die

I think it is the nature of organic beings to evolve and change, as a survival mechanism. I think it is becoming the nature of computer software as a construct created by organic beings to be changed, to make it evolve, adapt and survive. I believe these changes make cryptocurrrency resistant to attacks, functionally more efficient, and increase it's functional capacity.

Human Ingenuity

Add to the above topics one more, human ingenuity. The more time humans spend with tools, the more ways they learn to use them and the more things they can build with them.

Irony

Historically, cryptography started as a way to encode messages and hide things. It has evolved into a way to do the opposite, to reveal things. And the cryptography once used to show false information is now used to show true information, and prevent it from being altered. I think that is a sweet irony.

Financial Technology merge with more utility.

Additionally, as humans add utility to the blockchain,
they are developing digital banks, digital loans and digital trading systems, as one subset of utility categories.

Mass Adoption

Lastly, I feel we entering a new stage in cryptocurrency system development where the user interfaces require less knowledge about the underlying functions, and more about the goals of the functions.

This allows peole to focus more on what they want the cryptocurrency and blockchain to do or achieve, and less on how the cryptocurrency or blockchain acheives the objective.

I think that is the mass adoption phase, where the use of the tchnology is no longer limited to the technologically savy, but is easy to use for the technological novice as well.

What do you think?

Do you think cryptocurrency is becoming anti-fragile?
Do you think it is becoming more useful?
DO you think it is becoming easier to use?
