Trusting The Old Ways
"Pour you heart into it" are words of wisdom we've all probably heard a time or two. I think that's why a personal and private place to do just that is important. In an age of online leaks of private data, is it any wonder that the tried and true model of putting pen to paper is highly valued by journal writers?
Apple came out with a Journal app and at first I thought, "What a great idea!" which was quickly followed by, "Oh, but what if Journal gets hacked and all of my personal writings are leaked onto the web?"
Then I thought, "Well, but Apple is well known for their stance on encrypted privacy. They've staked their reputation, brand, and business on protecting data." So I pondered a bit and thought, "Well sure that's right now with the current leadership. What happens when that changes and new leadership years into the future change their mind on privacy?"
At the end of the day, as much as I would like to believe I can trust an online destination, the fact is I cannot. None of us can guarantee security online. So, I'll stick to a good old trusty and physical journal.
