Facing Physical Limits: Learning What NOT To Do
This morning, I faced a difficult decision: I had to inform my new employer of my resignation. The reality is that I can no longer manage 12-hour shifts of factory work like I used to when I was younger. The last time I engaged in such demanding physical labour was about a decade ago. Back then, although challenging, I could still function normally after work. Now, however, after just one shift, I'm rendered nearly incapacitated for the rest of the day.

When I wake up, I find myself hobbling around the house, struggling merely to get around. And as the days turn into a week, the discomfort only intensifies. You see, years ago, I was in a motorcycle accident leaving me with a slight but permanent disability. In my daily activities and even in my previous factory work, I had learned to compensate for the injury. Unfortunately, it seems I can no longer bear the strain of such extended work hours.
The core of the problem lies in my ankle and knee, both of which have grown increasingly sensitive to prolonged standing. Walking around for ten hours is somewhat manageable, but standing still is much more taxing. This doesn't help my financial situation, yet I am not without options. Fortunately, there are alternative job opportunities and various ways available for me to earn an income.
