Having problem getting a profile photo to work ...

Hello,
I am looking for some help in getting my profile photo to show up.
I have taken a photo selfie and clipped out the part needed. I also scaled it to the required size in both .jpg and .png formats but nothing I do seems to work. I have tried many times ...

The menus all complete, for some of my attempts, but the ones that did not error out still do not show.

I did do some searching and attempt to find this info, but being new, my skills here are limited.
A link to something I could read or some detailed instructions would be nice.

This should not be a problem as I have already uploaded many screen shots.
