Hive Music Festival Week 190 Round 1 "Ella ya me olvidó" (She already forgot me) Cover by @sayury
Yo, yo no puedo olvidarla
Yo, yo no puedo olvidarla
Ella, ella ya me olvido yo, yo no puedo olvidarla
Yo, yo no puedo olvidarla

Hello, my dear community, I have been away from the platform for several days for personal reasons. Thank God the "tide is going out" and I can reintegrate into this wonderful virtual space in which I have spent so many pleasant moments and where I have also learned many things. In this 190th week where a new cycle of three participations begins, I bring you my vocal and instrumental version of an old song by the unforgettable Leonardo Favio, the Argentine singer-songwriter, filmmaker, librettist, screenwriter and actor who impacted art from the mid-60s to the early 90s.
As a Filmmaker he is considered one of the most brilliant in his country and is the Argentine director who has won the most awards.
His films are considered the best in Argentine cinema. Speaking of him as a composer, I only bring up one detail: his songs have been covered in fourteen languages.
The song I perform for this first round is "She already forgot me", logically, making the female version I sing "He already forgot me". This song became popular in 1968. Its lyrics reveal something quite common: the experience of someone who is still in love with someone who no longer even remembers them.
She, she already forgot me,
I remember her now
Her dark hair was like spring
Her voice asleep to the kiss
And by the sea the fever
that took me to her core
And we dream of children
who stole the beach from us
She, she already forgot me,
I can't forget her I, I can't forget her
She, she already forgot
about those walks
Next to the waterfront
and the kid who looked
She, she already forgot me,
I can't forget her
I, I can't forget her
She, she already forgot me,
I remember her now
How not to remember her
every spring
If it comes with the breeze,
the sand takes it away
She, she already forgot me,
I can't forget her
I, I can't forget her
When this song became fashionable I was 8 years old and really all the songs by Leonardo Favio (the good-looking singer with a great resemblance to Marlon Brando, a resemblance that only I noticed 😁) were my favorites. Her powerful voice that knew when to let go and when to pick up, so that in the same song there were moments of sweetness interspersed with moments of great strength was truly extraordinary.
Of course, listening to it now, 58 years later, brings back memories of that wonderful time of my childhood, always marked by music. It's remembering my mother listening to and singing her songs, with that soft alto voice that I liked so much. It's remembering myself eighteen years later buying a cassette with all his hits and listening to it over and over again until the tape got tangled and I sometimes had to go so far as to loosen the small screws in the corners and uncover the cassette to fix what the "technique" of turning the reel with a pencil had not been able to fix. So many beautiful memories. It has been very special for me to record this song, I hope you like my version.
