Apple hosted an online WWDC on June 22 for the first time ever and in many ways, it was one of the most significant Apple events in a long, long time. People are still digesting and processing what Apple announced (and also didn't announce but hinted at).

Perhaps the biggest announcement (a "one more thing" deserving moment) was that Apple is moving away from Intel processors and making their own custom microprocessors for its Mac computers. THIS. IS. HUGE.

There are many implications of such a move. People are still debating the future that Apple is trying to create for its iOS and macOS devices for the next 10 years. Since Apple is one of the most influential tech companies whose ideas go mainstream and are adopted almost instantly by other companies, its decisions, and vision matter.

One wild idea (and something that people have been asking Apple for ages) is that Apple's switch to its own microprocessors for its computers and laptops could lead to the first touchscreen Mac. Has the time finally come?

A Touchscreen Mac?

Many "tech pundits" are saying right now that Apple might be gearing up to launch a touchscreen Mac for the first time. There are many clues that might hint that this is happening.

First, Apple straight up said in the WWDC video that it will launch the first Mac with an Apple microprocessor towards the end of this year.

As a result, it will be able to run iPhone and iPad apps natively. So, you would be able to run Instagram, Twitter, your favorite photo editing app all on this new Mac. Since we're habituated to use these apps with our fingers, Apple may provide the same functionality on this new Mac as well.

Second, Apple totally redesigned macOS with the latest version called macOS Big Surr. In it, many menu items, buttons, and other elements of the user interface just seem like they were designed for a touch interface. So, could it be?

Also, the iPad recently got cursor support and Apple even designed a special keyboard case for it to turn it into a semi-mac like a device! So, could it do the same for the Mac by giving it a touchscreen?
