Dajti Ekspres Cable Car, Tirana, Albania

Hello everyone.
This summer we visited Albania. It was my first time in Albania. We passed through Montenegro. Had nice time visiting Niagara waterfall in Podgorica in Montenegro. You can read more about waterfall in previous post. It took us around 9 hours from Sarajevo to arrive in Tirana. We explored Tirana and some other places.
In Tirana we visited Dajti Ekspres Cable Car. From the top of the mountain there is beautiful view of Tirana. We had really good time here. It was summer time and it weather was hot but here on the mountain it was refreshing.

First we visited main square in Tirana and explored city.
This is Skandarbeg Square in Tirana. Skandarbeg Square is very big. It is 40 000 meters squared.

Here you can see Et'hem Bey Mosque.

Et'hem Bey Mosque is built 1819 or 1821.

This is clock tower. It was built in 1822 by Et'hem bey Mollaj who also finished Et'hem bey Mosque. Clock tower is 35 meter high.

Military bunker are very often sight. From 1960s to 1980s 750 000 bunkers were built in Albania. We saw many bunkers while in Albania.

Bunkart 2 is one of two nuclear bunkers in Tirana.

It is near main square and city center.

From architectural standpoint this facade design where huge marble blocks hold on only upper part of block was very intriguing. I assume those block are quite heavy and tower is 85 meter high.

After we spent some time in the city center next stop was Dajti Ekspres Cable Car.

Dajti Ekspres Cable Car is close to the center of Tirana. Cable car ride is 4354 meters long and takes about 15 minutes to go to the top of the Dajti mountain.
View is very beautiful from the cable car. This is longest cable car in Balkans.

Yes almost top of the mountain is our destination. Destination is 1613 meters above sea level.

View is very beautiful. There are couple small hills that you go over and always view changes. And it takes time to reach destination.

And finally on the top.

There are couple activities that you can enjoy while on the Dajit mountain. There are restaurants and coffees and mini golf as well. Also you can ride horse or drive quads. Also there is Dajti adventure park.

Here are some military bunkers. Yes they are everywhere.

There are different courses with obstacles, nets, ropes and ziplines.
It is suitable for adults and kids as well.

Courses are very intereting.

Time to go back.
It was very refreshing and relaxing to explore mountain in hot summer days.
Dajti mountain and its beautiful view of the city is go to place when you are in Tirana in my opinion.
