Brachial plexus branches

Hi hive people,its my pleasure to meet you all again.i am going to tell about brachial plexus and its branches.brachail plexus originate from ventral rami of the C5,C6,C7,C8,T1.they are divided into ROOTS,TRUNKS,DIVISIONS,CORDS AND BRANCHES.

ROOTS -

From C5 root a branch will come and its name is dorsal scapular nerve and it supplies levator scapulae,rhomboid minor and rhomboid major muscles

From C5,C6,C7 roots a branch will come as one and its name is long thoracic nerve or nerve of bell or nerve to serratus anterior and it supples to serratus anterior muscles

TRUNK -

From upper trunk comes two branches and one is suprascapular nerve which supplies supraspinatous and infraspinatous muscle

Second branch is nerve to sublavius which supplies subclavius muscle

DIVISIONS -

NO BRANCHES IN DIVISIONS

CORDS -

LATERAL CORD -

  • LATERAL PECTORAL NERVE(C5,C6,C7)
  • MUSCULOCUTANEOUS NERVE(C5,C6,C7)
  • LATERAL ROOT OF MEDIAN NERVE(C5,C6,C7)

MEDIAL CORD -

  • MEDIAL PECTORAL NERVE(C8,T1)
  • MEDIAL ROOT OF MEDIAN NERVE(C8,T1)
  • MEDIAL CUTANEOUS BRANCH OF ARM(C8,T1)
  • MEDIAL CUTANEOUS BRANCH OF FOREARM(C8,T1)
  • ULNAR NERVE(C7,C8,T1)

POSTERIOR CORD -

  • LOWER SUBSCAPULAR NERVE(C5,C6)
  • UPPER SUBSCAPULAR NERVE(C5,C6)
  • NERVE TO LATISSMUS DORSI or THORACODORSAL NERVE(C6,C7,C8)
  • AXILLARY NERVE(C5,C6)
  • RADIAL NERVE(C5,C6,C7,C8,T1)
