These are tricky little fellows to get a photo of. I've noticed that they tend to keep away from shorelines in our nearby marsh. For this unique one, a group were floating by a flooded dock; I crept up behind a tree and snapped a few photos, but this one wasn't having it, and immediately took off. I somehow snapped this "action shot" as the pelican took off...such a unique water bird!
