Using ChatBot for app development in Android Studio

Greetings Developers on Hive Community.

Today, with this post, I'll share some of details I discovered when trying out new Android Studio.

Existing AI tools for Development.

• I believe, there are many AI tools which assists you for your app-development
• One of the very famous one is Github Co-pilot
• There are similar ones e.g. TabNine
• Captain Stack is also worth trying which is from Stack overflow.

• I personally have tried Github Co-pilot when it was free in the beginning
• I still use TabNine sometimes when I am using visual studio code.
• Occasionally, I use ChatGPT also but it 90% gives me incorrect answers.

How to get AI Assistance for Mobile App Development?

• So far, these AI Bots are useful as long as I'm using visual studio code.
• Using AI Bots outside IDE is little distracting & difficult to use as it's not aware of the context.
• For some reason, I decided to try unstable build of Android Studio
• This is where you can download Android studio unstable - https://developer.android.com/studio/preview
• Current unstable version is called Jellyfish

Where do you find it in Android Studio?

• After downloading that, I was awestruck after finding the Studio bot.
• Of course it requires google log-in.
• For google, we already are open book 🤣 They already know everything about us.
• Once you log in, you will be able to use the Android Studio chat bot

How to use it?

• Just enter some text in the text box & submit
• In my case, I entered "Composable code for Tip Calculator"
• And the result was mind blowing.
• It gave everything.

Disappointment

• I usually use Flutter for mobile app development
• So, I was all set & super excited now to start using this chat-bot for App Dev.
• I ask chat-bot, Do you know flutter?
• I was frustrated when I found that Flutter isn't supported yet.
• Do you know any ChatBot which supports flutter? If yes, let me know in comment seciton.
