Siamese Fighter fish Mating:
I do love my aquarium and I do love my Siamese Fighter Fish (Bettas). I have posted about my fish before, and the male in this photo is one of my previous babies, which hatched at the end of January 2020, thus he is almost a year old.
Siamese Fighter Fish has an interesting breeding ritual. The male first build a nest of bubbles, which can be seen in the photo at the top.
The male then embrace the female, and fertilize the eggs as she spawns. The eggs is then caught by the male, in his mouth, and placed inside the nest. Sometimes the female will help with this process. In this video towards the end, the female did collect an egg from the ground and put it into the nest. (The entire spawning process can be seen in the video) The process as shown in the video is repeated several times until all the eggs are laid.
After the eggs are laid, the male will chase the female away and he will look after and protect the eggs in the nest, this can be seen in the photo above.
Below is a closer photo of the bubble nest with the eggs inside. The eggs are the solid white balls in the nest. As you can see there are quite a number of eggs. What amazes me, is that it only takes around 3 days for the tiny Siamese fighters to hatch. These eggs have already hatched, and I will post on this at a later stage.
I hope you enjoyed the post, have a wonderful day!!
