Instead Of Assuming, Ask.

Sometime ago I was in a situation. Something had happened, which I obviously didn’t know about but she took it to heart.

I tried talking to her for the first few days but she didn’t wanna talk to me. I tried my best to find out what had happened to warrant her anger at me. This behaviour of hers went on for a while until I became tired of trying to talk to her.

Eventually I stopped talking to her. I had to delete her number since we had no vibe. It turned out she heard something about me and instead of asking me she didn’t, she went ahead and concluded I was in on it and decided to stop talking to me.

This situation is what motivated me to write this post.

Sometimes instead of asking questions we assume. We don’t give the person accused of doing wrong the benefit of doubt. We as humans tend to judge people at the slighted opportunity we get. There are some people who will argue that they don’t judge people but I bet you we are all in on it.

For instance, when we see a man in dreadlocks we simply think that he is a gangster or a bad person; at least I know this happens in the part of the world I am. We forget that dreadlocks is a style and it actually looks nice on males too.

In this instance we can’t ask the person if he is bad or not but the dreads doesn’t give us the chance to simply judge him. We don’t even have the right to judge anyone. What happened to getting to know the person before jumping into conclusions?

But it’s not the same when we are faced with the same situation right? Wouldn’t we love people to give us the benefit of the doubt? Ask us countless times if we really did it? Then we should be ready to do the same for others.

I think it’s high time we stopped imagining and started asking questions. Assumption has really caused havoc in a lot of places. I am in prison doesn’t mean I committed the crime. It goes two ways and removers to always ask questions when you have to.

Thanks for reading.

I talk about coins but I got no coins. Catch me on threads as I spend my whole day there.
