Breeding Rhode Island Red Chickens

We are breeding Rhode Island Red chickens in our backyard. It has been seven months already since we started. We have about forty chickens both male and female. They started to lay eggs last December at first it was very few then the numbers keep increasing. We were very grateful because the hard work was being paid off. We were able to sell eggs to our neighbors aside from the one we consumed.

Since Typhoon Odette came, we do not have electricity in our place as of now so incubator is not possible by this time. We have an alternative to breed Rhode Island Red through a native hen. We put eggs of Rhode Island Red instead of the native eggs. We put fifteen RIR eggs and out of fifteen, only eleven were hatched. We are still grateful we had a new batch of chickens. We still have two more brooding native hens. We hope to have more chicks sooner.
