ZINGTOBER Day 02 — WEAVE Typography (ARACHLET)
Hi everyone, back again with me in the INKTOBER 2025 post, which this time is still hosted by @holozing. If you want to check out the full details, you can find them in this link: ZINGTOBER2025
Today’s theme is WEAVE. As soon as I saw the word weave, the first thing that popped into my head was weave web—and of course, today’s “victim” is ARACHLET. 🕷️
As usual, I started off with a basic sketch.
Then I picked a few short words to form its body. It feels easier to use simple words, since they’re more flexible to position.
Next up were the legs. Here, I tried to find words with sharp-angled letters so I could shape those pointy spider legs. Pretty fun, actually, because I got to play around with letter variations to match the form.
The head part was a bit trickier, especially when it came to drawing those sharp teeth. Took a couple of tries before I finally felt it looked right. But once it clicked, the character instantly came to life.
Once all the letters were in place, it was time to erase the guidelines and add a black background. That way, the words forming Arachlet’s body stood out even more.
Following the challenge rules, I left the final piece in black-and-white. Simple, but that contrast is exactly what makes Arachlet look fiercer.
And here’s the finished result.
Hopefully, this piece can also spark some ideas for you guys joining the second day of the challenge. See you again in the next theme!
