The province is located a long the india-china sea trade route by seventh century ,several trafing towns on aceh were flourishing especially on eastern coast and were influenced by indian religion the most notable of these influences were the sriwijaya and the samudra sriwijaya was a budhhist monarchy centered in what is now palembang dominating the region thourgh trade and conquest from the seventh to the ninth century thr kingdom helped spread the malay peninsula and western borneo the empire was thalassocratic a maritime power that extended its influenced from island to island
