Rakhines Reap Rohingya’s Crop and Physically Assault Them
Rathedaung – A group of Rakhine armed men reaped Rohingya’s paddy
and brutally beat several Rohingya men and women in Sin Khone Taing (Rohingya)
village of northern Rathedaung on Friday, according to Rohingya Today.
The source mentioned that about 20 Rakhine men led by San Shwe Maung entered the Muslim village in the morning holding 6 guns and swords, forcefully gathered some Rohingya labours and started to reap the paddy belonging to Rohingyas.
Of them, 5 men including the gang leader caught some Rohingyas witnessing the crime or passing by and inhumanely beat them accusing them of recording the incident.
The victims were identified as Saiful Islam, 22, son of Lalu; Imam Husain, 26, son of Mohammad Salam and Nur Begum, 37, wife of Abdu Shukur.
When Begum’s brother Hasan and daughter shouted for help, they were also beaten. This family is still hiding out as the criminals threatened them with killing.
Those Rakhine miscreants also came the next day, reaped more paddies and sold out to neighbouring Rakhine villages with a discounted price.
Muslims in Sin Khone Taing village frequently face Rakhine atrocities and, according to the source, even the village school is forced to close.
