Fun with TEM guts

Over 10 years jerking around these things and proud to say I have never damaged a pole piece, seen a few wrecked in the field tho ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚. Usually dropped by a poorly trained FSE. Pole piece is the shiny guy in the middle of first pic. Second pic is where it belongs, held in by the wide gold plated nut in first pic. Sure enough, when I pulled C1 app (on the rod over gold nut) a piece of indium fell out, which is what I was hoping because there was a crappy beam obstruction. Sometimes when making the seal above some indium smooshes out of guide ring and falls down liner tube. Annoying, but sometimes unavoidable.
