Hello

My first blog post and I wanted to introduce myself!

I'm a Canadian Journeyman Electronics Technician and Journeyman Electrician.
After spending quite a number of years in the field, I now try to spend my time teaching Electronics & Electrical to Apprentices or MakerSpace students.

My passions are connecting devices (usually Raspberry Pi's, Arduino, or ESP-8266 or 32's) to the outside world.
My home projects include powering my Pi's and other devices with Solar power as well as Pi controlled plant watering systems and lighting control systems.

When we renovated our kitchen & bathrooms we installed LED strip lighting in the toe kicks of the cupboards and I've wired all of them to a Pi downstairs and we control it via a Node-Red dashboard that we can access from our phones, tablets & computers. If anyone is interested in the Raspberry Pi / MOSFET LED controllers, etc. please let me know & I'll be happy to post some pics!

Here is a pic of a Raspberry Pi controlling a 120V power bar via a 5V input. Given the Pi really only wants to see 3.3V, I've done a bit of a work around to enable it to work!
