IR Photography in the Fields and Nature Reserve

I've been experimenting with my Full-Spectrum Modified Sony A5000 with a Hoya R72 filter, trying to capture some infra-red imaging. I've post-processed these images to give them some false colour.

The R72 filters out waveforms below 720 nanometers (nm), so the visible light is almost eliminated. However, there is still some colour, although the sky tends to look yellow and the green looks blue. One standard adjustment is to swap the Blue and Red channels round or hue shift by 180 degrees.

Again the following image has been colour shifted by 180 degrees. However, there was less range, so I was able to boost the contrast to get that deep colour in the sky.

As I'm looking for shots, I am looking around the edge of Bollens Bush Nature Reserve looking for a practical (i.e. not overgrown) route into the nature reserve from Peacehaven's Centenary Park.

Bollens Bush is somewhat unused, so many of the paths are overgrown; this does give rise to exciting photography (and surprise visits from animals). In this case, I used colour grading, colour mixing and the point curve to get this cherry blossom-like effect.

I'm still working on my Long-Covid recovery by exploring nature in my local area, taking frequent stops to recover as opportunities to shoot outdoors. I hope you enjoyed these photos, and if I have earned it, I thank you for your vote, follow or comment.
