SETTLED, ONCE FOR ALL

succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2).

🖊️ COMMENTARY
Once upon a time, in a certain coal mining town, a revival was held. One of the nights, a miner came along to the altar call , seeking Jesus Christ. He had a hard struggle striving to enter through the strait gate. At last, after over an hour of seeking, the minister dismissed the congregation, while he himself remained with the seeker. After spending some long time with them, the pastor suggested that they go home, and urged them to keep on praying and come back to the altar the next night. But, the penitent man would not be put off. He said, "I want this settled tonight." Together they prayed until long after midnight. And finally, the repentant sinner found the Saviour and was happily converted. Oh, he was glad and shouted the high praises of God and rejoiced in His pardoning grace!

Early in the morning the next day, he waved his family goodbye as usual, took his dinner pail, and hurried off to his work in the mines. About 4:30pm. something terrible happened that the roof caved in, and several tons of slate and rock fell, catching this miner. His fellow workmen rushed to him and found his body under the mass, but his head and shoulders were protruding. He was almost gone. As they knelt around him with their digging lamps, they saw a smile on his face. As he expired, he whispered, "Oh, I am so glad I settled it last night."

Nothing can be as assuring as knowing that the issue of sin is settled in one's life. Certainly, one of these days we shall be passing onto the shores of eternity. What will matter most is what we did with the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary, what we did with the offer of salvation that was freely given to us. The Holy Spirit still says, savationd, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Do not harden your heart if you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour. Did you backslide and abandon your faith? Let today mark a turning point in your life. Get is settled today.
