I really didn’t have to think long and hard about the particular song I wanted to use In reference to this topic because it is one that would forever be dear to me. Music is a language and only music lovers have the ability to communicate through music.

I am one of such lovers and my partner is too. Before my wedding, we had the task of picking our first dance songs. I wanted a particular song and my partner wanted a particular song too.
We were both at a fix on which one to pick.Till we decided to incorporate both after all its our day and we can decide to have more than one first dance songs.

I really am a 2face idibia aka 2baba lover and his song ‘if love is a crime’ has always been a favorite. I have always told myself when ever I am getting married I would use this song as a first dance song. My hubby on the other hand wanted Johnny drills latest song as at then ’Count on you’
I also loved it too because I love Johnny too. But there was one that struck both of us.

This was our main song and one I can never forget in a hurry, everytime I hear that song playing, my memory is flooded with how sweet that single moment was. Dancing in the middle of my dream wedding with the absolute love of my life, the most surreal moment of my life yet.

It was the Simi and Adekunle Gold’s ’stand by you’ song. The words of the song resonated with us, i felt every line and lyrics, it was as if we were both making the promises to each other as we sang and danced together. Permit me to say it was the most perfect first dance song. No matter where I hear the song now my first reaction is

this is me and my husband’s song

The other other day we were driving and my partner decided to play it and he turned to me and said ‘babe our song’ and it brought back memories and I smiled and even blushed. It’s a special song between both of us, one we can never forget the lyrics or the memories behind it ever.
