Iris, You’re A Looker

I thought you might like to see what I see as I tend to my garden.

Let me introduce you to Pallida Variegata.

This type of Iris has a striped green and yellow leaf that’s quite rigid and thick.

Its fragrance is similar to a sweet grape soda. (Yeah, no kidding. The aroma is intoxicating.)

Iris thrive when their roots are not planted too deeply.

They like to be kept in moist soil that’s well drained, but they do not like their roots to remain too wet.

They bloom in the months of May and June in the part of Canada, where I live. The show is short so I always try to make a point of marking their early contribution to my garden.

They are considered a herbaceous perennial.

They will tolerate full sun to part shade.

Most Iris like full sun, but this is one variety that has some tolerance for shade.

I give you Pallida Variegata.

Take a good look, while you can.
