A face with real skin texture, natural hair and reflective eyes capable of interpreting your expressions and perceiving changes in your mood in a matter of seconds, that's right, friends, the chasm between virtual artificial intelligence and human-looking androids is already disappearing.
The Chinese giant UBTECH caught the attention of the industry by presenting through its consumer brand UW The U1, a new generation of ultra-realistic humanoid robots created specifically for company and interaction within homes, this impressive hardware takes a brief trip to the year 2050 to understand how society can be transformed by this new bionic species.
The launch of the U1 line represents an important change in the history of robotics, until now, humanoids were developed mainly for industrial environments and research laboratories. Now the focus is on the family environment. The male model is reported to be 1.83 cm tall, while the female version is 1.68 cm tall, both use extremely realistic silicone synthetic skin and feature an impressive 88 degrees of freedom, allowing for smooth and expressive movements of the torso, neck and arms.
But the real differential is not in the body, but in the mind, androids use encrypted local artificial intelligence to maintain conversations, interpret voice tones and offer emotional support by identifying signs of sadness or stress and users. Curiously, UBTECH decided to impose physical limitations on the project. What will happen as this technology matures in the coming decades?
