Detecting stomach cancer while it is still invisible to human eyes is the promise of an artificial intelligence created in China that is surprising the medical world, developed by Alibaba, the same technology giant that dominates e-commerce, the AI called Grape, is being pointed out as the first in the world capable of identifying gastric cancer in early stages, using only CT images.

That's right, without endoscopy, without discomfort, without cameras in the throat, the future of medicine could have received an ally that sees what not even the best specialists can detect, this AI was trained with the largest tomography database ever created for stomach cancer and the tool analyzed studies of almost 100,000 patients from 20 hospitals, this allowed Grape to recognize subtle patterns practically invisible to the human eye.

The revolution is not only in the ability to see what no one sees, but in how it does so safely and accurately. In clinical trials, Grape achieved 85% sensitivity and 96% specificity, this means false negatives, fewer false alarms and more lives saved thanks to the early discovery of the disease, and as the analysis is based on tomography, the process is totally non-invasive.

The AI is also powered by deep learning and continually adjusts with clinical feedback, ensuring that its accuracy improves as more cases are analyzed, all of this reducing reliance on painful and invasive procedures such as endoscopy, one of the big hurdles in early detection in China, where less than 30% of patients agree to undergo traditional screening.

The technology is already being prepared for large-scale implementation in the province of Zjanui with the aim of revolutionizing population screening for gastric cancer and if it really delivers what it promises, the impact could be global.
