A humanoid robot for risks
In the United States, the IHMC is preparing the next generation of its humanoid robot called Alex and this time the focus is no longer on impressing with isolated demonstrations, but on building a machine capable of operating in real scenarios where each decision must be made in real time.
This expands your ability to perform complex tasks, especially those that require immediate response to changes in the environment, but the focus here is not just on performance, but on purpose. Alex is being developed to act in situations where human presence may represent a risk, such as entering collapsed buildings, exploring dangerous areas or carrying out reconnaissance missions before the arrival of rescue teams. It completely changes the logic of using these systems because they are no longer a simple substitution and become an extension of human capacity.
