Tornado Cash 2.0 : Privacy With ZK Proof

Tornado cash is a crypto mixer that got banned by the united state government, which was because ,it was perceived to be used for criminal acts. Tornado cash helps people mix crypto to lead to more privacy and more anonymity. Lots of people would like to transact anonymously for security reasons, that is the job of tornado cash. Just as much as people can use it for criminal acts people also use it for good reasons. Everything good has been used for bad also, but as usual, its crypto and the government decided to flex their muscle on it.

Privacy should be everyone’s right, its unfortunate that people use it to launder money but this is not the first platform we have seen bad people utilise, when the US government banned tornado cash last year, no one was happy because it was an inhibition to people’s privacy. Vitalik Buterin stated the reason he used tornado cash for donation, being a public figure in the crypto space, people can see what he does with his crypto as his ethereum wallet is made public. If he sends ETH to anyone, people can see who he sent it to, if the recipients are public figures too with their crypto wallet address public, then the recipient identity will be known. So to protect the recipient’s identity he uses tornado cash. Which is a good reason also, and there are other good reasons too.

But then the people wants what they want and with the power of decentralisation they have decided to build another tornado cash but this time it will be harder for the government to shut down. This new platform is going to be a fork of tornado cash according to decrypt this new tornado cash will be called privacy pool and its demo would be release soon. But for this to work people using it need to prove that they are not using it for criminal acts because that is one of the ways the platform won’t get banned again. This way it will be like the ZK roll up mechanism which is authenticity with anonymity.

This is the beauty of the crypto technology it is continuously evolving, the good actors and developers are constantly working hard to make technology work for the good of human kind.
