Mortal Kombat 2 is Coming

Well, this is an unexpected surprise. Mortal Kombat came out in theaters and for free on HBO MAX on April 23, 2021. The movie made only 83 million dollars worldwide which made it a box office flop. However, it did amazing on HBO MAX. In fact, it had the most viewers on HBO MAX on opening weekend, leaving movies like Dune behind. But basically, Mortal Kombat> is a powerhouse and a powerful brand. It just needs some help and a different creative team. The fact that they got Jeremy Slater who wrote Moon Knight for Marvel to write the script for this movie is encouraging.

I am not sure that it's HBO MAX success can be translated to big box office money, but it can be a major hit on the small screen as an HBO MAX movie. It's an option. Either way, the power of the brand is still strong.

Did I think the first movie was a masterpiece? No. Am I excited for a sequel? Hell yeah. Bring Johnny Cage.
