Let's try our hand on sci-fi this week

@mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2061: brain interface

Team Omega didn't know what made the other previous teams fail, it was supposed to be a search and retrieve ops in one of the abandoned facilities that were affected by the technological warfare going on between the major countries-- No outwards danger that could be brought upon by dead tech in the first place. So why hadn't Team Alpha and Team Beta ever come back?

"Captain. We found something in the eastern wing, this is pheno--" Static broke through their comms as Team Omega's captain lost contact with the other side. And it hadn't prepared him from what he saw of his remaining team as he got to the said location.

There on the broken tiles of the facility lay bodies that looked like they were sleeping, their combined breathing a cacophony of rasps as if like vents from overheated machinery, and between them lay wires that seemed to have coiled themselves around the fallen teams. But what really caught the captain's eye was what lay in the middle of the pile of prone bodies, an organ that seemed to have a sentience to it despite not having a body of its own and the wires that came out of it-- emitting a strange hum of brain interface as it seemed to feed off from the his fallen comrades.

Before he could do anything about this horrifying scene though, he failed to feel the wire that tightened around his ankles.

Working in a corporate setting can get pretty tiring, immersing in books and getting lost in writing is a great form of escape.
