Oat-Crusted Pizzas (Eng/Esp)

English version

Today's breakfast was some delicious grilled pizzas, but this time I added yeast, an egg, and rolled oats to the dough to give it a different and unique twist. My dad gave me a jar of homemade sauce, so I didn't have to make it from scratch. This recipe is convenient because the dough doesn't need to rest for an hour—it goes straight onto the griddle.

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams of wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons of yeast
  • 50 grams of rolled oats
  • 1 egg
  • Hard cheese for grating
  • Tomato sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • Oil

Procedure:

I poured 1/2 cup of water into a pot and heated it until it was lukewarm—just warm enough that I could put my hands in without getting burned. I poured the water into a bowl, immediately added the yeast, and waited a few minutes. Then I added a tablespoon of oil, the egg, and a pinch of salt. I stirred and began gradually adding the wheat flour while kneading.

Next, I added the rolled oats and continued kneading; I know it’s ready when it no longer sticks to my hands. I then sprinkled a little flour on the surface of a plastic bag cut in half and flattened the dough with a rolling pin; I cut out three circles using a cookie cutter.

From there, I transferred them to a hot griddle lightly greased with oil. I turned the heat to medium and flipped them so they would cook evenly, then added the homemade tomato sauce and sprinkled grated white cheese on top. Five minutes later, I was able to enjoy my delicious breakfast.
