Ay Corona- Scathing Senryu
Ay Corona,
lets quarantine the Chinese
maybe in Russia...
two birds with one stone?
First I wanna quickly say that I have nothing against the Russians... or the Chinese, this poem was born of my flinty little Brit heart which was marinated in a mixture of pickling vinegar and sarcasm shortly after I popped out of my sainted mothers nether regions ๐
Please, if you're going to take offence make sure you take this fence.
I listened to a radio show the other day run by a guy called Jermey Vine here in the UK. On this show he was spouting the usual panic rhetoric about the Coronavirus and had recruited a doctor to answer questions from the rag tag of crazies that were calling in a fevered fervor of misinformation.
A woman rang up this panel and asked if she should quarantine her husband who was returning home that day from a business trip to Singapore.
In my mind I could just see this poor fella, quarantined to the bathroom, having his dinner fed to him through the garden hosepipe.
Or maybe, banished to live in the doghouse to live with Fido for the next few weeks! If the dog dies, then all is not well and he might have the dreaded Corona!!!
Ffs, this type of shit just exemplifies the levels of hysteria we as a society are prepared to get ourselves into, and how much the media loves to facilitate our mania. Anything to sell another paper, or boost ratings... or promote some fckn other bollocks.
Ha ha, and out of my insane musings a little poem sprouted like a flower from a suspiciously dried up turd.
Anyway, rant over ๐
