Ode to Winnipeg
Out for a ride
by the meeting of the rivers.
A friendship growing
and my wheels turn
while the pedals push against
my feet.
Paths I've ridden
many times
still evoke
and awaken
a love and
a gratitude
for elements and aspects
of this city.
The riven paths,
the speaking of the trees in the wind.
The pockets of life
in the slow decay of concrete.
The paths that weave
through these deep green canopies
I love this chirping,
Squawking, squeaking.
The skyline,
the rivers wynding way
and the trails that dance along it.
