This capture I took back in April during a day-long hike in Karelia, across the Baltic Sea coast. It would have been an ordinary, unremarkable location, were it not for the amber-brown peat stream. It was precisely this water that colored the nearby rocks in such a whimsical, capricious hue. It also appealed to me that one bank was already covered with sprouts of fresh green grass (even a few snowdrops are visible), while the other bank was covered only with dead autumn leaves. It looks like a symbolic battle scene for me – the retreat of winter and the victory of spring.
