SELF-DENIAL : I CHOSE TO BORROW FROM OTHERS...
I find it kind of funny and interesting when I spend hours thinking about what to write on a simple topic like this but when it comes to complicated topics, one which gives other writers like me a headache, I just find it easy and simple to understand and write on, my lifestyle is very strange no doubt heheā¦
Thinking deeply on what to write on self-denial and nothing was coming forth, I was forced to take a deep breath only for me to remember the post I made yesterday which was also in relationship to this prompt, it is indeed related to self-denial because I actually deprived myself of eating sumptuous and delicious meals just because of my budget for something very importantā¦
I made the sacrifice of eating sumptuous meals which was for my own interest and benefit just because I believed I could live well without eating that type of meal and with this I will still have some money saved while denying this cravingā¦
The bitter truth is that I was desperately craving that sumptuous meal, it was my need at that time but I had to deny myself the pleasure of having it because of something elseā¦
In summary, the above introduction is just to tell you without a doubt that I have indeed passed through many phases of SELF-DENIAL in the pastā¦
I have had several cases of self-denial in the past and the most recent one was the one that happened last year when I was preparing for the JAMB examinationā¦
What happened, how it happened, and how I was able to escape it is what I will be sharing with you all below, so I urge you all go brace yourself for this short and interesting self-denial story of mineā¦
I CHOSE TO BORROW FROM OTHERSā¦
Over a year ago I was planning to take an external examination, an examination into a higher institution, it is expected of every jambites to take some extra classes before preparing for this exam since it is not an easy oneā¦
I was a jambite too then, I needed to get some past questions for myself so that I could prepare myself well for the exam both in the class and on my own at homeā¦
Jamb past question was my urgent need back then, I needed the past questions to pass my examinations and I remember clearly at that time that my brother was also having some delay in paying up some fees in his schooling, I was the only one who could help him at that moment because it was now an urgent matter which needed to be attended tooā¦
I was shaken and confused about what to do, I could have spent the money on my needs at that moment but instead I sacrificed my needs just to keep my brother in class for his examination thenā¦
I had about seven thousand naira in my account and he was in need of ten thousand naira urgently, I could only help him with the last cash in my accountā¦
Without a second thought, I made up my mind and sent the money to him immediately for him to go thorough with his exams and I was now left broken and stranded to find a way for myselfā¦
This action made to share with others in the class while enduring utterances from the people i shared with, all I could do was to put up with them because I was the one in need of their help the mostā¦
I had to sacrifice my need for the sake of my brotherās examination, that was the least I could do to help him since I was the only one available for him at that moment, he is my blood brother and I thought of the other alternatives I had and that was why I made that sacrifice just for him to take his examsā¦
In summary, I was able to escape it because I had help from other students who had their own complete past questions for the examinationā¦
In conclusion, all this lasted for just a week as I was able to raise some funds a week after that day, I immediately went to the bookshop and got my past questions, I read and studied for my examination and guess what?, I passed with flying colorsā¦
