My Sweet Siblings

Being the only child can be sweet when you are little because you will get everything you need as the only child and the care will be much but when you become an adult, being an only child can be stressful because you will have to be the only one doing everything at home since there is no siblings to call for help.

My siblings and I hmmm, we are like kdrama series, at first when we were growing it was like hell raising all of us at the same time because we are 9 in number. We lacked a lot of things because I lost my father at a very tender age and that was the only time I ever wished that I don't have plenty of siblings as I did but what can I do about it? Nothing because they are alive and so they must live.

When I got to secondary school my mom registered me and my twin sister together so that made the school fee payment very hard for her because she had to pay for the two of us at the same time. One day we were both sent out of school and when we got home my mom told us that she only have money for one person.

Who will step down? I and my twin sister looked at each other and my mom said, "Dara you are the first person that came to the world which makes you the elder so you will be the one stepping down" I burst into tears and then said, "if only you have given birth to just me this wouldn't have happened" as a Nigerian mother such word has weight to her so she gave me a deep slap and then reply, "so why don't you die instead so that I can take care of the rest?"

Those words hurt along with a dirty slap and I got angry. I left and deep down, I was thinking that "Why did she give birth to plenty of children like this and now there is no money to take care of us" That was a child's thinking I know.

When we all became an adult, everything changed and there is nothing like me thinking of not having siblings. Though whenever we go home for holidays, the house used to be like a Santa house because we won't stop making noise from morning till night to the extent that my mom was recognized for our noise in the neighbourhood whenever it was Christmas and new year celebrations.

I remember the last time we went back home for the new year, I and my elder sister had an argument because of my mom's feeding allowance and we both nearly beat ourselves up but we didn't.

My mom couldn't do anything because we all are grown bigger and taller than her so she couldn't handle any of us. She just kept quiet and looked at us while we are arguing. Some minutes later she just burst into laughter and that stopped the argument immediately because we were not expecting her to be laughing at that moment.

When we stopped, she just said, "I love the way all of you are arguing it makes me happy because I never thought that I will be able to raise you all but God helped me".

That was how we settled our argument and everything went down so in a nutshell I love my siblings and I wish to have more than the ones I have now.
