GL Goals - RNG variance test with playing the game

Over the weekend, @knotenbart and I came up with another idea. Try playing the same team lineup against each other in the Genesis League Goals.

We played 10 matches against each other, we both used this team formation without substitutions:

The goal was, of course, to test the RNG. Here is a small example of the variance it created. A short video of 3 matches and the results of all the 10 matches:

From my point of view, 6 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses. 22-15 goal difference.

Personally, I think 10 matches is not enough to even out the variance created by the RNG. Rather, the category of several hundreds or thousands would be enough.

But it's a perfectly good example to show: big swings can easily happen even against completely identical teams.

I didn't notice much difference between the moves I or @knotenbart chose, so the difference is more down to RNG.

What I mentioned before about the game: who scores the first goal is important. In addition, the right to start the game gives you some advantage. Maybe not as much as being with white in chess, but it is a noticeable advantage.

Hopefully this will convince players who would start to doubt the RNG after losing 2-3 matches where they had equal or greater odds. Variance is one such thing. In this respect, the game is very similar to real football.
