Parks and Playgrounds - Ep2

Hi all, once again the Platypus-Dundee tribe are out and about exploring the wonderful South-West of Australia. In episode two of my new series of parks and playgrounds we visit an intriguing place I have been wanting to visit for a while now. About 1.5hrs from Bunbury, the Yallingup maze (Yell-ing-up) has grown from a local hedge maze to a full on a-maze-ing experience (sorry had to do it).

As you can see from the source image, this maze is full of twists and turns, dead ends and brain teasers. The main object is to get to the 4 towers in each corner. Towers 1 and 2 are relatively easy to find through trial and error, with 3 and 4 providing more of a challenge, I won't give away the secret to finding towers 3 and 4, just in case you ever visit but lets just say the way is not open but can still be entered.

We kinda jagged the order as tower 3 leads to the exit

Along the way there is some really cool art work painted on the walls of the maze as well as the clues to some extra challenges and some brain teasers to figure out.

Clue to the extra challenge - I liked this one :)

The entire experience to find all 4 towers took us about 45mins of going back and forth, hitting dead ends and trying to figure out the secret to towers 3/4. You could easily spend another hour trying to complete all the puzzles and bonus challenges and really is a very rewarding day out and the kids loved it too.

After finally exiting the maze we headed to the cafe for a bite to eat and a coffee. Here the fun continues as scattered around the tables are little wooden puzzles to be completed.

After lunch the kids went and bounced on the bouncy castle

There was another surprise awaiting us as I went and explored the grounds, to the rear of the outdoor lunch tables there were some logs and tree branches laid out in a kind of obstacle / balance beam course. This proved too challenging to a few kids as slips and falls could be heard followed by crying or sometimes laughing.

This one didn't :) - (she was alright, started laughing)

All in all a wonderful day out in the sunshine, providing exercise and testing the kids (and the adults) problem solving skills. Recommending this place is a no brainer and I can see us coming back again.
