My first Gate…
… at least, the first I post in 
This lovely gate is part of the ducal castle in Caen, Normandy, France. The castle was built around 1060 by William the Conqueror to house his residential palace so I think one can say it’s a very old gate. (but I checked, the locks are new 😉)
If you ever visit Caen, you really have to visit the castle too! It’s one of Europe's vastest fortified enclosures and really impressive to see. If you want more info about the history of this castle, just take a look at http://www.normanconnections.com/en/norman-sites/caen-castle/
