Paper cuts suck 'cause even though paper looks smooth, it's actually really rough up close. When you cut yourself with paper, it's like using a saw blade instead of a knife, so it hurts way more. And to make it even worse, tiny little pieces of paper get left behind in the cut, making it extra irritated.
