Weekend Visitors

As the weather becomes colder the non migratory birds look for good food sources to sustain them through the winter. I am one of them that helps the birds through the winter. In the past few days Missouri's temperatures have dropped significantly down to the low 30's, which for mid October it is cold. I have stocked up on a few of the favorites of these birds like suet and a treat called bark butter also seeds like black safflower, peanuts, sunflower and a mix of seeds made for wild birds, my finches I get nyjer seed which is their favorite.

This weekend had cold temps but the sun popped through a few times during the mostly overcast days. I got some decent photos of some of the regulars and was totally surprised by a small visitor I've only gotten a glimpse of, a Carolina Wren. Mostly Carolina Wrens eat insects and fruit but will eat seeds.

Some of the birds were a White breasted Nuthatch, Tufted Titmouse, Northern Cardinal, Downey Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and the Carolina Wren.
